Hyderabad, October 2 (HS): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Khairatabad constituency in-charge Manne Govardhan Reddy has stepped up his organisational activities in the constituency in recent months and has continued to take up civic issues raised by local residents.
With political activity picking up in Khairatabad following the vacancy of the Assembly seat, Reddy has been focusing on constituency-level organisational work as well as issues concerning basic civic infrastructure. His recent interventions have included raising drinking water, sewerage, roads and drainage-related problems with the concerned authorities.
Over the past few months, Reddy has met officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, submitting representations on issues reported from different parts of the constituency. He has also undertaken visits to localities and interacted with residents as part of programmes to highlight pending civic works.
His activities have included a padayatra under the banner of Samasyalapai Samaram, following which representations were submitted to GHMC officials regarding roads, drainage and other infrastructure requirements. In another intervention, he approached HMWSSB officials over drinking water and sewerage-related concerns in parts of Khairatabad.
Reddy has simultaneously remained active in BRS organisational programmes and political activities. In July, he participated in a BRS protest at the Banjara Hills police station concerning cases involving Booth Level Agents during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
His increased activity comes at a time when the BRS is considering names for the Khairatabad seat. Reddy is among the leaders whose names have figured in discussions within the party, although the BRS has not announced its candidate. The Election Commission has also told the Telangana High Court that a by-election notification will not be issued until a pending election petition concerning the constituency is resolved.
Reddy has an electoral history in Khairatabad, having contested the constituency in the 2014 Assembly elections as a TRS candidate and again in 2018 as a BSP candidate. He currently serves as the BRS constituency in-charge and has continued his organisational engagement in the area.
