New Delhi, 02 October (H.S.): Floral tributes were paid at the portraits of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister, the late Lal Bahadur Shastri, at the Central Hall of Constitution House on Friday on the occasion of their birth anniversaries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilisers Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Member of Parliament and BJP president Nitin Nabin, other Members of Parliament, former parliamentarians and several other dignitaries paid floral tributes at the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with school students.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla recalled the lives of the two great leaders and their contributions to the nation. In a message shared on X, he said that the entire lives of revered Mahatma Gandhi and respected Lal Bahadur Shastri remain a source of inspiration for the people of the country. He said their ideals of truth, non-violence, simplicity and service to the nation would continue to guide future generations.
