Guwahati, 02 October (HS): AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal has taken a jibe at Congress leader Rakibul Hussain over the latter’s remarks on biryani, claiming that Hussain had grown up eating dried fish rather than biryani.

Reacting to the Congress leader’s statement, Ajmal said Hussain came from a poor background and questioned how he could have eaten biryani. He also made a disparaging reference to Hussain, calling him “mad” while commenting on the issue.

Ajmal’s remarks have added another layer to the verbal exchanges among political leaders amid the campaign for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election. The controversy began after Hussain referred to biryani in a response to remarks made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during the election campaign.

The Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election is scheduled to be held on October 6, while counting of votes will take place on October 9.-----------
