Hojai (Assam), 19 October (HS): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained three Bangladeshi nationals travelling aboard the Guwahati–Sairang Express (Train No. 15609) during an operation at Lumding Railway Junction in Assam during the Durga Puja period.
The detained individuals have been identified as Bilal Hussain, Amir Ali and Hasan Miyan, all reportedly residents of Sunamganj district in Bangladesh, the RPF said on Monday.
According to officials, the trio allegedly entered India around three months ago by crossing the India-Bangladesh border through the Murshidabad area of West Bengal. They reportedly told officials that they had paid a middleman Rs 15,000 to facilitate their entry into the country.
After entering India, the three men travelled to Uttar Pradesh, where they worked as labourers before being apprehended by the RPF at Lumding Railway Junction.
The incident has raised concerns over the alleged role of middlemen in facilitating illegal cross-border movement. Further details regarding the investigation and legal action against the detained individuals are awaited.------------
