Hyderabad, 19 October (H.S.): Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of misleading the public with allegations of vote theft, claiming that he had failed to produce evidence to substantiate his charges.
Rao said the Election Commission of India and the Supreme Court had repeatedly clarified issues relating to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, asserting that there had been no forced deletions or vote theft.
He alleged that Rahul Gandhi had failed to provide proof of his claims before the public, the President of India or the Supreme Court. Rao described the repeated allegations as an attempt to mislead people and also accused the Congress leader of using the Gandhi surname illegally.
The remarks come amid protests by Opposition parties, the INDIA bloc and activists against the Election Commission's SIR exercise.
