Baksa (Assam), 19 October (HS): Suspended Assam Police DSP Sandipan Garg, an accused in singer Zubeen Garg’s death case, was released from Nikashi Jail in Baksa district on Monday following the Gauhati High Court’s bail order on October 16.
“Truth always triumphs,” Sandipan Garg said after his release.
A single-judge bench of Justice Rajesh Mazumdar granted him bail. Sandipan, a cousin of the late singer, faces charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in connection with Zubeen Garg’s death in Singapore on September 19, 2025.
The singer died under mysterious circumstances while swimming in the sea during a visit to Singapore for the North East India Festival. The Assam Police CID formed a Special Investigation Team to investigate the case. Several people, including festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta and singer’s manager Siddharth Sharma, have been arrested.-----------
