New Delhi, 19 October (H.S.): The Delhi Police has filed a chargesheet before the Saket Court against seven accused in the mob lynching case involving 54-year-old Chongtham Vikram Singh, a Manipuri musician and music teacher, in Kilokri village in southeast Delhi. The police have also arrested a minor in connection with the case.

The chargesheet names Bharat Kumar, 19; Pramod, 26; Ramzan Khan, 22; Deepanshu, 21; Mohan Vishwakarma, 32; Vijay, 36; and Mannu, 26, as accused.

According to the police, on September 6, Chongtham Vikram Singh stepped out of his apartment to dispose of garbage when he noticed several people creating a disturbance at an eatery opposite his residence. When he objected to their behaviour, the men allegedly chased him from the ground floor to the third floor and assaulted him in front of his 20-year-old son.

Chongtham was subsequently taken to Holy Family Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The post-mortem report attributed his death to blood loss caused by injuries to his chest and abdomen.

During questioning, the accused reportedly told the police that they had intended to teach Chongtham a lesson but had not expected the assault to prove fatal.
