New Delhi, 18 October (H.S.): The West Indies have made a change to their squad for the two-Test series against Bangladesh, with fast-bowling all-rounder Keemo Paul returning home for personal and family reasons. Shamar Springer has been named as his replacement, Cricket West Indies confirmed on Saturday.

The 28-year-old Springer has represented the West Indies in three One-Day Internationals and 12 T20 Internationals but is yet to make his Test debut. In 23 first-class matches, he has scored 1,043 runs at an average of 32.59 and claimed 58 wickets at an average of 27.87.

Springer impressed with the bat while representing Barbados in the 2026 West Indies Championship. He scored 251 runs in four matches at an average of 50.20. However, his bowling returns were relatively modest, with seven wickets at an average of 42 across eight innings.

Cricket West Indies said Ojay Shields and Nial Smith had also been considered as potential replacements for Paul, but injuries ruled both players out of contention.

The West Indies will also be without regular white-ball captain Shai Hope, who has been rested for the tour. Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been left out as part of workload management. Paul had initially been brought into the squad as Joseph’s replacement.

Both Springer and Paul were part of the West Indies squads for the limited-overs series against India. The tour concluded on Saturday, when the fifth T20 International in Bengaluru was abandoned due to rain. The West Indies lost the three-match ODI series 2-1, while the five-match T20I series ended in a 2-2 draw.

West Indies’ Bangladesh Tour Schedule

The West Indies will play a three-day warm-up match in Dhaka from October 22 to 24 before beginning the Test series.

The first Test will be played in Mirpur from October 28 to November 1, while the second Test is scheduled to take place in Sylhet from November 5 to 9.

Revised West Indies Squad for the Bangladesh Test Series

Roston Chase (captain), Jomel Warrican (vice-captain), Joshua Bishop, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Joshua Da Silva (wicketkeeper), Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Amir Jangoo (wicketkeeper), Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Shamar Springer and Kevin Wickham.
