Morigaon (Assam), 18 October (HS): An eight-year-old girl was killed after being hit by a speeding Bolero pickup vehicle in the Lahorighat area of Assam’s Morigaon district on Sunday, police said.

The accident occurred at Budhagaon Chariali, where the Bolero pickup bearing registration number AS-25EC-1053 allegedly hit the girl, killing her on the spot.

The deceased was identified as Rupsa Begum, daughter of Raj Ali and a resident of Budhagaon village.

Following the incident, a police team reached the spot and took custody of the body before sending it to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The girl’s death triggered protests by local residents, who blocked the road to express their anger over the incident.

Police have registered a case in connection with the accident and initiated an investigation into the matter.-----------
