Hyderabad, 17 October (H.S.): A security scare was reported at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad on Saturday after a 12-year-old girl reportedly uttered the word bomb aboard an IndiGo flight carrying students returning from a tour. Police said a security check was conducted and nothing suspicious was found.
According to police, more than 50 students from Hyderabad were on board the aircraft. After the remark, the plane was moved to an isolation bay, and all passengers were safely deboarded.
Security personnel checked the aircraft, following which authorities declared the situation clear. No suspicious object was found during the inspection, police said.
The incident comes amid a series of bomb threats received by Hyderabad airport and flights over the past year, many of which were later found to be hoaxes. Earlier incidents involved threat emails targeting domestic and international flights, prompting security checks and, in some cases, delays or diversions.
