Amravati, 17 Oct (HS): Efforts to start Amravati Indore air services are in
progress. Three aviation companies have been contacted, Maharashtra Airport
Development Company’s Vice-President and Managing Director Deepak Kapur
informed the media on Saturday.
Indore
is an important market place and the demand for introducing air connectivity is
being raised by business persons from the region since long. Kapur, however,
did not reveal the date by which the flight services will be started. Indigo, Star Air, and Fly 91 have been
requested to start the services. Businessmen from Amravati frequently visit
Indore. However, travelling by road is time consuming and difficult. Demand for
air connectivity to Pune and Delhi has also been made. Amravati-Mumbai flight
is available only for four days in a week.
Under
updated ‘Udan’ project four air traffic connectivity and two airports have been
sanctioned. Two major services – Amravati-Pune-Amravati, and
Solapur-Mumbai-Solapur have been selected in the first phase. Union Minister
for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol said that the two routes are likely to be
started after completion of formal procedures.
