Vijayawada, 17 October (H.S.): Jana Sena has named former Vijayawada East MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna as its candidate for the Vijayawada mayor's post in the upcoming local body elections in Andhra Pradesh.

The party released its list of candidates for mayor and municipal chairperson posts. Radhakrishna, son of late Kapu leader Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, joined Jana Sena recently.

Radhakrishna entered electoral politics with the Congress and won the Vijayawada East Assembly seat in 2004. He joined the Praja Rajyam Party in 2008 but lost the 2009 Assembly election.

Before the 2014 elections, he joined the YSR Congress Party and contested unsuccessfully. He later served as the party's Vijayawada city president in 2015. After being denied the Vijayawada East ticket in 2019, he distanced himself from the YSR Congress and joined the Telugu Desam Party.
