Mumbai, 17 October (H.S.): The teaser of actress Keerthy Suresh’s upcoming series ‘Akkā’ was released on the occasion of her birthday. The Netflix series will feature Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte in the lead roles.

Produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films Entertainment, the series is set in the 1980s and explores a world shaped by female dominance, struggles for power and bitter rivalries. ‘Akkā’ is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on October 30.

The story unfolds in a fictional kingdom called Pernuru, where traditions run deep and the struggle for power remains relentless. The kingdom’s social and political order revolves around women who, for generations, have built, protected and governed the realm.

Keerthy Suresh will portray Bhavani, while Radhika Apte will appear as Rudra. The confrontation between the two characters and the shifting dynamics of their relationship are expected to form a central part of the narrative.

‘Akkā’ is a women-centric gangster drama that marks the directorial debut of Dharmaraj Shetty, who has also written the series.

Speaking about the project, Keerthy Suresh said the release of the teaser on her birthday, amid the love and affection of her audience, made the occasion particularly special. She described Bhavani as one of the most distinctive and memorable characters she has portrayed so far.

Keerthy also said that working with Radhika Apte had been a rewarding experience. She added that ‘Akkā’ marks her first series with Netflix and Yash Raj Films Entertainment, and that the uniqueness of the story was one of the key factors that drew her to the project.

Audiences will be able to watch the series on Netflix from October 30.
