self-reliance and employment: Skill Development Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal
Mission Director Pulkit Khare issued instructions to
commence classes by Nov 2 and ensure quality training
Lucknow, 16 Oct (HS): Girls studying in Kasturba Gandhi
Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) of Uttar Pradesh are now going to get a big
opportunity to become self-reliant by learning vocational skills along with
formal school education. Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) has
set an ambitious target of providing skill training in various
employment-oriented sectors to 2,672 girl students of 71 Kasturba Vidyalayas
across the state under 'Project Praveen' for the academic session 2026-27. For
this, instructions have been issued to complete the basic preparations
expeditiously in all the concerned districts.
Under this innovative initiative, female students will be
provided specialized training in in-demand, modern sectors such as healthcare,
IT-ITES, apparel, media and entertainment, and green jobs. The goal is to
provide female students with practical technical knowledge at the school level,
instilling confidence in them and enabling them to pursue future employment or
establish their own businesses.
State Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational
Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Kapil Dev Agarwal, said that
under the able leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state
government is working with full commitment to make daughters self-reliant,
empowered and economically independent in coordination with 'Mission Shakti'
and 'Skill Development Mission'. The Yogi government has a clear vision that
our daughters should have the power of skills along with books in their hands,
so that they can stand on their own feet without depending on anyone.
Through Project Praveen, rural and underprivileged girl
students from Kasturba schools will be trained in modern trades, computer
technology, and artificial intelligence at the classroom level, tailored to
industry demands. This initiative will bring revolutionary changes in the lives
of girls and elevate the overall women's empowerment of the state to new
heights.
Pulkit Khare, Director of the Skill Development Mission, has
issued strict instructions to all relevant training providers and District Program
Management Units (DPMUs) to complete preparations in a timely manner. He
directed that the process of approving training centers, registering students,
and creating batches be completed without delay, and that training classes be
started by November 2, 2026, in any case. After receiving applications for
center and batch approval on the Mission portal, officials must make a decision
within two working days.
The maximum duration of the training has been set at 300
hours. Textbooks and teaching materials will be provided to the students within
seven working days of the start of the training, and photographs of the
distribution will be required to be uploaded on the Mission portal.
To connect female students with modern technology, training
will focus on technical knowledge, as well as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and
soft skills. The AI course available on the portal, or Youth AI for
All, will be taught compulsorily, along with related courses. Soft skills
will also be taught for personality development and communication skills.
Under Project Praveen, schools from several districts
including Agra, Aligarh, Bareilly, Badaun, Bulandshahr, Chandauli, Etah,
Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Ghaziabad, Ghazipur, Gonda, Hardoi, Jaunpur, Jhansi,
Kannauj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lalitpur, Mainpuri, Mathura, Meerut, Mirzapur,
Moradabad, Prayagraj, Sambhal, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, Sonbhadra, Unnao and
Varanasi have been selected.
Training will be based on the curriculum of the relevant
Sector Skill Council, in accordance with NCVT and NSQF standards, and
post-training evaluation will also be conducted by the Council. District
Program Management Units will conduct on-site inspections of training centers
and equipment every 15 days. The Mission Director has clarified that strict punitive
action will be taken against institutions that fail to start classes on time or
show any negligence in quality.
