Guwahati, 16 October (HS): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has installed electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities at its headquarters in Maligaon, Guwahati, to promote sustainable mobility and encourage the adoption of environment-friendly transportation.

NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava inaugurated the facilities on Friday in the presence of senior officials of the railway's headquarters.

The newly installed infrastructure caters to both four-wheelers and two-wheelers, offering convenient charging options for railway employees and visitors. The initiative is expected to improve access to EV charging facilities within the headquarters premises and encourage greater use of electric vehicles.

The facilities include a 60 kW DC fast charger equipped with dual guns and CCS2 connectors for four-wheelers. Compatible with electric cars of different makes and models, the charger can take approximately 30–40 minutes to charge a vehicle, enabling faster charging and reducing waiting time.

Additionally, a 3.3 kW charger with a universal socket has been installed for electric two-wheelers. Depending on the vehicle's make and model, charging may take up to 1.5 hours.

The initiative reflects NFR's commitment to environmentally responsible practices, cleaner transportation and reducing dependence on conventional fossil-fuel-powered vehicles.-----------
