New Delhi, 15 October (H.S.): Real Madrid’s star forward Kylian Mbappe has created a new milestone in UEFA Champions League history by becoming the youngest player to make 100 appearances in the prestigious competition. He achieved the feat on Wednesday during Real Madrid’s 4-3 victory over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Mbappe reached the landmark at the age of 27 years, nine months and 25 days, surpassing the record previously held by Argentine football legend Lionel Messi. Messi had made his 100th Champions League appearance at the age of 28 in September 2015, also against Roma.

A Record-Breaking Milestone Accompanied by a Goal

The French forward celebrated his achievement by scoring an equaliser in the first half, playing a crucial role in Real Madrid’s comeback. The Spanish side subsequently secured a 4-3 victory with a decisive goal in the closing moments of the match.

With his goal, Mbappe also moved ahead of former Real Madrid striker Raul Gonzalez in the Champions League’s all-time leading scorers’ list, climbing to fifth place.

Champions League Debut at 17

Mbappe made his Champions League debut for Monaco in September 2016, at the age of 17. Since then, his exceptional pace, clinical finishing and consistently impressive performances have established him as one of the leading figures in European football.

By becoming the youngest player to reach 100 appearances in the competition, Mbappe has added another significant achievement to his growing list of individual milestones in European football.
