Guwahati, 14 October (HS): Bhralumukh Police have arrested two persons, including a woman and seized banned cough syrup during an operation in Guwahati, police said on Wednesday.

According to police, the operation was conducted following a tip-off. During the raid, the police recovered banned cough syrup from the residence of Narbiz Begum (32) in the Alugudam area under Bhralumukh police station.

Narbiz Begum and the alleged supplier, Amir Ali (35), a resident of Fancy Bazar, were arrested in connection with the case.

Apart from the banned cough syrup, the police also seized Rs 40,000 in cash from the accused.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in connection with the seizure. Police are conducting a detailed interrogation of both the arrested persons to ascertain further details of the case.-----------
