New Delhi, 14 October (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed happiness over the successful surgery of Pope Leo XIV and wished him a speedy and complete recovery, along with continued good health.

In a message posted on the social media platform X, Modi said he was pleased to learn that the Pope had undergone successful surgery the previous night. He extended his best wishes for the pontiff’s swift recovery and prayed for his continued good health.

Pope Leo XIV, whose birth name is Robert Francis Prevost, was born on September 14, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He earned a degree in mathematics from Villanova University before pursuing further studies in philosophy, theology and canon law.

He was ordained a priest on June 19, 1982. Pope Leo XIV is the 267th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church and the first American-born pontiff.
