Guwahati, 14 October (HS): Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Wednesday administered the oath of office to Dr Madhumita Baruah as the Vice Chancellor of Assam Women's University at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan here.

The oath-taking ceremony took place in the conference hall of Lok Bhavan in the presence of senior officials of the Assam government and heads of various universities. Earlier, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S. S. Meenakshi Sundaram sought the Governor's permission to commence the proceedings.

The ceremony was attended by Assam Chief Secretary Dr Ravi Kota, Commissioner and Secretary of the Higher Education Department Narayan Konwar, and Gauhati University Vice Chancellor Professor Nani Gopal Mahanta.

Vice Chancellors of Bhattadev University, Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Assam Veterinary and Fisheries University and Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University were also present.

Director of Higher Education Pomi Baruah and other senior state government officials attended the event.------------
