Thrissur, 14 Oct (H.S.):The family of a girl who lodged a complaint against 18-year-old Mohammed Aslam, who died by suicide in Kodungallur, has released an audio recording purportedly suggesting that he planned to threaten her and demand money.
The recording emerged after Aslam’s father, Noushad, alleged that his son ended his life following police assault and harassment over a fabricated case.
According to the girl’s family, the audio captures Aslam discussing with a friend plans to demand Rs 3 lakh from her elder sister by threatening to release material in his possession. The speaker purportedly suggests that the sister, who travels abroad, would pay to prevent its circulation.
The recording’s authenticity has not been independently verified.
The family said the girl had blocked Aslam’s phone number four months earlier. He subsequently contacted a mutual acquaintance, asking that she answer his calls and allegedly threatening to circulate her photographs if she refused.
He also allegedly sent messages to her elder sister living abroad.
The family said it became suspicious after gold went missing from their home. When questioned, the girl reportedly disclosed that she had befriended Aslam through Instagram and that he had used photographs taken during their relationship to demand gold and money.
Her relatives said they approached police after obtaining audio clips supporting her account. They also released footage purportedly showing Aslam arriving at their house and threatening them on the day the complaint was filed.
Noushad, however, alleged that the family opposed his son’s relationship with the girl and influenced police to detain both his sons. He claimed they were falsely implicated in a case involving threats and demands for valuables.
He has sought action against those allegedly responsible for his son’s death. The supplied account does not include a police response to either family’s allegations or the released recordings.
