Mumbai, 14 October (H.S.):

Actor Arya Babbar has shared his views on Yash’s portrayal of Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film ‘Ramayana’, saying that the actor’s look, as revealed so far, does not appear particularly different from his appearance in the ‘KGF’ franchise. However, Babbar emphasised that a definitive assessment of Yash’s performance should be made only after watching the complete film.

Babbar, who is currently portraying Ravana in the stage production ‘Mahabali’, shared his thoughts during a recent interview. He also came to the defence of Saif Ali Khan’s performance in ‘Adipurush’, arguing that the actor had portrayed the character in accordance with the director’s vision and attempted to bring a distinct intensity to the role.

According to Babbar, it would be unfair to hold an actor solely responsible for how a character is portrayed, as the director’s creative vision also plays a significant role in shaping the performance. Commenting on Yash’s appearance as Ravana, Babbar said that he had seen a different side of the actor in ‘Toxic’, suggesting that the upcoming film would need to offer a fresh interpretation of the character.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The film also features Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh and Vivek Oberoi in significant roles.

Produced by Namit Malhotra, the ambitious cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic is being developed in two parts. The first instalment is scheduled for theatrical release on November 5.

The film has generated considerable interest among audiences, particularly because of its star-studded cast and its interpretation of one of India’s most revered epics. Yash’s portrayal of Ravana has attracted particular attention, with viewers keen to see how the actor approaches the complex character on screen.
