New Delhi, 13 October (H.S.): A total of 27 mementoes reflecting Uttarakhand’s sacred pilgrimage sites, folk traditions and regional identity have been included in the eighth edition of the e-auction of mementoes presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the Union Ministry of Culture, these items represent the state’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage. The gifts presented to the Prime Minister include framed artworks, photographic prints, temple models and objects of historical significance. The entire proceeds from the auction will be dedicated to the Namami Gange programme.
Uttarakhand’s prominent places of worship are represented through four distinctive temple models. These include two models of Shri Kedarnath Dham, one of the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath, and a carved wooden model of the Maa Ganga Temple in Mukhba.
The collection also features a rare photographic print depicting all four sacred pilgrimage sites—Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri—in a single frame. Other notable items include a framed photograph of Mansa Devi in Haridwar, a panoramic view of Adi Kailash, an image of the Mahasu Devta Temple, and a glass memento featuring LED lighting that depicts the Kartik Swami Temple. A print showcasing Narayan Ashram and the Kumaon Himalayas captures the region’s serene and spiritually significant mountain landscape.
The influence of Aipan, Uttarakhand’s traditional folk art, is evident in a wall clock and an exquisite artwork depicting Goddess Durga. These pieces highlight the importance of religious symbolism in the state’s indigenous artistic traditions. Seven traditional Uttarakhandi hill caps are also part of the collection, representing the region’s distinctive attire and vibrant cultural identity.
The spiritual and cultural collection also celebrates contemporary sporting achievements. A badminton racket autographed by Lakshya Sen, Uttarakhand’s internationally acclaimed badminton player, has been included in the auction. The item reflects the state’s emerging sporting talent and its contribution to Indian sports.
The model of the Ganga Ji Temple in Mukhba is particularly significant in the context of the auction’s broader objective. It highlights the central place of the River Ganga in Uttarakhand’s spiritual and cultural life. The proceeds raised through the e-auction will go directly towards the Namami Gange programme, supporting efforts to conserve and rejuvenate the Ganga.
The eighth edition of the e-auction of the Prime Minister’s mementoes is currently underway, with the deadline extended to October 31. Interested citizens and bidders from India and abroad can participate by placing their bids online through the official e-auction portal.
