New Delhi, 13 October (H.S.):
Amid global economic uncertainties and international challenges, India’s continued emergence as the world’s fastest-growing major economy is a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisive leadership, visionary policies and reform-oriented governance, said Chandni Chowk MP and Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) National Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal on Tuesday.
Reacting to the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) upward revision of India’s economic growth forecast, Khandelwal said the country’s sustained economic progress reflected the far-reaching impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to structural reforms, policy stability, infrastructure development, digital transformation and strengthening domestic manufacturing.
He said the Modi government’s strong emphasis on initiatives such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Make in India, Vocal for Local and Ease of Doing Business had laid a solid foundation for economic expansion, entrepreneurship and employment generation. Growing confidence among domestic enterprises, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), startups and consumers was further strengthening India’s economic momentum, he added.
Khandelwal said India’s robust domestic demand, expanding digital economy, improving connectivity and increasingly dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem were also enabling the country to navigate global uncertainties with confidence. The resilience of the Indian economy, he noted, reflected the strength of its vast domestic market and the aspirations of its people.
Emphasising India’s growing global stature, Khandelwal said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country was emerging not only as a rapidly growing economy but also as an influential force shaping the future of the global economic order. India’s growth trajectory, he added, was strengthening confidence among investors, entrepreneurs and the international business community.
He said the next phase of India’s economic journey would focus particularly on empowering traders, strengthening MSMEs, expanding manufacturing, creating new employment opportunities and ensuring that the benefits of economic growth reached every section of society.
Khandelwal added that India’s vast trading community would continue to play a crucial role in connecting producers with consumers, expanding markets and helping realise the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.
Referring to the IMF’s latest World Economic Outlook report, Khandelwal said India’s GDP growth was projected to remain at 7.0 per cent in both 2026 and 2027. According to him, the projections underscored the strength and resilience of the Indian economy, as well as the country’s increasingly significant role as a major driver of global economic growth.
