Prayagraj, 13 Oct (HS): In alignment with the mandate to
enhance 'Ease of Working' and foster digital Swachhata under the Government of
India's ongoing 'Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters', North
Central Railway (NCR) has taken a significant milestone initiative. Naresh Pal
Singh, General Manager, NCR, formally inaugurated 'SEWA' (Sanction of Employee
Welfare Applications), a web-based portal developed for the Employee Welfare
Fund, in the presence of senior officers and staff today.
The 'SEWA' portal directly translates the Special Campaign
mandate into action by relieving offices of the burden of physical paper files
and embedding clean, paperless workflows into daily operations. Through this
online portal, welfare claims move seamlessly from initial application to final
sanction entirely online, eliminating the physical movement of paper files from
desk to desk. This initiative not only reinforces environmental sustainability
and workplace cleanliness but also marks a transformative shift towards Ease of
Working for railway personnel.
In its initial phase, the portal covers three major schemes
of the Welfare Fund: spectacle reimbursement, alongside Technical Education and
Higher Education scholarships for employees' children. Employees can
conveniently log in using their mobile number and a One-Time Password (OTP),
upload their documents once, and track the real-time status of their
application desk by desk. To eliminate errors and reduce pendency, eligibility
is verified automatically against governing rules prior to submission. Ensuring
complete transparency and speed, each desk signs off on actions using a digital
signature token or OTP, after which approved cases are sanctioned collectively
on a single list while the system automatically generates bank payment
statements and pendency reports. The portal is available in both English and
Hindi.
The application was conceptualized, designed, and developed
by the IT Cell of North Central Railway under the guidance of Tarun Kumar
Shukla, CMIT/NCR, with key contributions from Ashish Kumar, Amit Kumar, and Anil
Kumar Patel.
Speaking on the occasion, General Manager Naresh Pal Singh
commended the IT Cell's initiative and highlighted that the 'SEWA' portal will
play a crucial role in disposing of pending matters swiftly and driving Ease of
Working under the Special Campaign. He noted that by doing away with physical
paper files, NCR is creating cleaner, more organized workplaces while ensuring transparent,
faster, and hassle-free welfare service delivery to its workforce. This
initiative marks another major step in NCR’s ongoing journey to digitalize all
establishment and personnel processes for enhanced service delivery, and the
portal will be rolled out across the entire railway network shortly.
