Gorakhpur, 12 Oct (HS): According to Uttar Pradesh Chief

Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state has turned from a source of widespread

concern about safety before to 2017 to a symbol of women's security, dignity,

and empowerment. The Chief Minister made these statements on social media and

during public events commemorating Sharadiya Navratri, especially tying Maa

Brahmacharini and Mahishasuramardini to the state's efforts to safeguard women.

He said that while Uttar Pradesh had previously faced significant criticism and

law-and-order worries about women's safety, the BJP double-engine

administration had created a courageous climate over the last nine and a half

years.

A comprehensive state initiative aimed at increasing

awareness, upholding dignity, reducing eve-teasing, and strictly penalizing

offenders. The count of female police staff in Uttar Pradesh rose from around

10,000 to more than 44,000, aided by a 20% reservation policy. Three battalions

of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) were formed and named in honor of

notable women from history. The administration attributes its zero-tolerance

stance on crime, tech-driven monitoring, anti-Romeo teams, and the Safe City

initiative for enhancing women's involvement in public and economic spheres.

In a post on X, UP CM stated, “The mantra of success

attained through the penance and resolve of Mother Brahmacharini teaches us

that even goals that appear impossible can be achieved with firm determination.

Before the year 2017, Uttar Pradesh was surrounded by questions regarding

women's safety; today, it has become the new identity of the security and

strength of feminine power. Over the past 9.5 years, a zero-tolerance policy

toward crime and criminals, technology-based surveillance, swift police action,

and public awareness campaigns have played a decisive role in creating a fearless

environment for women in the state. Initiatives such as the five phases of

Mission Shakti, the Safe City project, Mission Shakti centers, and women's beat

policing have provided a comprehensive and robust foundation to the framework

of women's safety.”

“With 20% reservation, Uttar Pradesh's women police force

has grown from 10,000 to more than 44,000. Additionally, three women PAC

battalions have been established—in Lucknow named after Veerangana Uda Devi

Pasi, in Gorakhpur after Veerangana Jhalkari Bai Kore, and in Badaun after

Veerangana Avantibai Lodhi. The double-engine government of the state is

realizing the resolve of 'Empowered Women, Prosperous Uttar Pradesh' through

this tireless journey of empowering feminine power from security,” he added.
