New Delhi, 12 October (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday paid tribute to Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia on her birth anniversary, remembering the former parliamentarian and founding member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for her dedication to national service and public welfare.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi wrote, “Vijaya Raje Scindia’s sacrifice and dedication to serving the nation are a source of inspiration for everyone. Her ideals and thoughts will infuse fresh energy into the resolve to build a Viksit Bharat.”

Om Birla said that Vijaya Raje Scindia had carved out a distinctive identity through her principles and unwavering commitment to public welfare, both in public life and in the discharge of her parliamentary responsibilities. He added that her devotion to the nation, commitment to public service and ideological convictions would continue to inspire generations.

Rajnath Singh said Vijaya Raje Scindia had dedicated her entire life to national service, public welfare and the preservation of Indian cultural values. He highlighted her tireless efforts to uphold women’s dignity and promote their empowerment, adding that her life would remain an enduring source of inspiration for its unwavering commitment to national service, public welfare and firmly held principles.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that Vijaya Raje Scindia had renounced royal privilege to pursue public service and devoted her life to strengthening nationalist ideology. During the struggle against the Emergency, she endured months of imprisonment but never compromised on her principles, he said. Her life, Shah added, would always serve as a source of inspiration for every party worker.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari also paid his respects to Vijaya Raje Scindia on her birth anniversary.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia paid an emotional tribute, describing her as a source of inspiration in his life and recalling her as his beloved grandmother and the revered Rajmata. He said he bowed repeatedly in reverence to her memory on her birth anniversary.

Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat described Vijaya Raje Scindia, a prominent figure in Indian politics known for her gracious and influential personality, as a leading member of the Gwalior royal family. He said her contribution to taking the ideology of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and the BJP to the masses would remain unforgettable.
