Redeveloped Civic Waste Collection Site to Promote Waste Reduction, Reuse of Household Items and Scientific Waste Management; Similar Centres Planned Across All Wards in West Zone
New Delhi, October 12 (HS): Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi on Monday inaugurated a ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ (RRR) Centre in Subhash Nagar, under the West Zone of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The centre aims to reduce household waste and the volume of discarded materials, encourage the reuse of usable items and promote environmental protection through recycling. It has been established by redeveloping an old municipal waste collection site and was dedicated to the public on Monday.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Pravesh Wahi said that, given the limited availability of natural resources, the concept of the three Rs—reducing waste, reusing items and promoting recycling—was essential for sustainable resource management.
He said the initiative would help raise awareness among Delhi residents about cleanliness and environmental conservation while encouraging the scientific management of waste.
The Mayor stated that the Municipal Corporation was continuously working to promote the efficient utilisation of resources, environmental protection and a cleaner, more sustainable urban environment through initiatives of this kind. He added that RRR Centres would be established for public use in all wards across the West Zone in the near future.
Wahi said the initiative would encourage citizens to minimise waste generation, reuse items that remain serviceable and segregate recyclable materials appropriately. These efforts, he noted, would contribute to the vision of a cleaner Delhi and promote environmentally responsible lifestyles among residents.
