Bhubaneswar, 11 October (H.S.): Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond attended a community gathering of Kui Klambu chiefs in Phulbani, where he interacted with the traditional leaders and called for preserving the cultural heritage, customs and traditions of the Kui community.
A total of 148 Klambu chiefs participated in the gathering and were felicitated on the occasion. Gond described the opportunity to meet the chiefs on a common platform and spend time with them as a matter of great joy and pride.
In a social media post, the Minister said such gatherings were not merely occasions for interaction but also symbolised unity, mutual trust and cooperation within society.
Emphasising the importance of cultural identity, Gond said the culture and traditions of the Kui community were its true identity. Forgetting this heritage, he cautioned, could disconnect the community from its roots.
He stressed that preserving the ancient traditions handed down by ancestors was a collective responsibility. He also highlighted the need to pass on this cultural legacy to future generations so that they could understand, appreciate and continue the community's traditional practices.
The Minister said the younger generation must be educated about the community's customs and heritage, as a lack of awareness could prevent them from understanding their cultural roots.
Gond particularly underlined the importance of imparting accurate knowledge about the Klambu and gotra systems to the younger generation. He called for collective efforts to teach, explain and sustain these traditions so that the community's cultural heritage remains alive for years to come.
