Lucknow, 11 Oct (HS): Under the sixth phase of Mission
Shakti Abhiyan, a massive awareness campaign was launched in council schools
and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. A
total of 67,951 students, including 55,574 girls and 12,377 boys, participated
in the programmes organised on the first day of the campaign. The students were
given information about women's safety, child protection, emergency assistance
and effective use of helpline numbers. The message of respect for women, safety
and eradication of social evils was given through poster-chart making,
awareness rallies, dialogues and drama presentations in various schools.
As part of the campaign, students were informed about
important helpline numbers related to women's safety and assistance. These
include Women Power Line 1090, Women Helpline 181, Police Emergency Service
112, and Child Helpline 1098. Students were told how to access the relevant
helpline numbers in case of any trouble, harassment, or emergency. Students
created posters and charts based on helpline numbers to demonstrate their
importance. The objective is to create awareness among children and enable them
to seek timely assistance when needed.
Minister of State for Basic Education (Independent Charge)
Sandeep Singh said that the objective of the Mission Shakti campaign is to make
girl students and women aware of their rights and safety. By providing helpline
numbers in schools, children are being taught how to seek assistance in case of
any problem or emergency. Only through awareness and self-confidence can strong
steps be taken towards a safe society.
Director General of School Education, Monica Rani, stated
that under the Mission Shakti campaign, effective implementation of prescribed
activities and active participation of students is being ensured in every
school. It is essential to develop awareness among girls about safety, self-respect,
and their rights through posters, rallies, dialogues, and other creative
activities. All concerned officials should regularly monitor the programs and
provide information through the designated channels.
The message of Mission Shakti was effectively conveyed
through creative activities organized in various schools. In some schools, girl
students, dressed as Goddess Durga, presented theatrical performances to
promote the eradication of social evils and the respect for women. In other
schools, students organized awareness rallies with posters and banners. Through
classroom conversations and activities, girls were made aware of their rights,
safety, and self-confidence. These events inspired children to embrace respect
for women as a social responsibility.
Female police officers also participated in awareness
programs in some schools. Through interactions with them, students were
informed about safety measures, ways to seek help, and the importance of
speaking up about their problems. These activities in schools aimed to remove
hesitation from children's minds and to make them understand that in unsafe
situations, instead of remaining silent, it is important to reach out to
trusted individuals and relevant support systems. The message of women's safety
and respect was also spread outside schools through rallies and group
activities.
The sixth phase of the Mission Shakti campaign is being conducted
from October 11 to 19. On October 12, activities based on the rights of girls
will be organized in council schools and KGBVs. These will focus on identifying
safe and unsafe touch, child rights, grievance redressal systems, and
information on helpline numbers. For the effective operation of the campaign,
district and block level officials have been instructed to monitor activities,
ensure participation, and provide reports in the prescribed format.
