Guwahati, 11 October (HS): Assam's largest grassroots sports initiative, Khel Maharan, is set to return with its third edition from November 7, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced in a social media post on Sunday.

Highlighting the enthusiasm and sporting potential of the state's youth, Sarma said the initiative would provide a fresh platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and pursue their sporting ambitions.

Following the successful completion of its first two editions, Khel Maharan 3.0 is expected to expand the reach of grassroots sports across Assam. The programme aims to identify and nurture sporting talent, beginning at village-level playgrounds and extending to the state level.

The initiative also seeks to empower young people through sports by encouraging participation, developing athletic abilities and creating opportunities for emerging players to demonstrate their skills.

The Chief Minister said the upcoming edition would be bigger, more energetic and more exciting, building on the momentum generated by the previous two editions. Khel Maharan has emerged as a platform for promoting sports at the grassroots level and encouraging greater participation among Assam's youth.------------
