
Varanasi, 11 Oct (HS): With the aim of spreading the
message of fitness, youth empowerment and drug-free India to the masses, the 94th
edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle was organised in Varanasi on Sunday
morning. The cycle journey started from Namo Ghat at 6 am to the Deeksha Mandap
of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. In this initiative based on the theme
Drug-free youth for a developed India, the youth along with Union
Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and Labour and Employment Dr Mansukh
Mandaviya and Asian Games medal winners cycled with great enthusiasm. Before
this, the Union Minister welcomed the young participants at Namo Ghat and
boosted their morale. The Union Minister gave the message of fitness and
drug-free India by carrying the traditional Jodi of Kashi on his shoulders.
According to the organizers, the rally aims to promote
cycling as a simple, accessible, and environmentally friendly way to lead an
active lifestyle. The mass participation will convey the message that staying
fit should be a part of everyday life, and that sports and physical activity
can play a vital role in building a healthy, empowered, and drug-free India.
Along with the participation of athletes, yoga sessions, energetic Zumba, fun
games, and various interactive activities were also organized at Namo Ghat.
These activities encouraged participants to adopt fitness and a healthy
lifestyle.
Fit India Sundays on Cycle is organized by the Ministry of
Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India,
Raahgiri Foundation, and My Bharat. This cycling campaign runs simultaneously
in all states and union territories. Activities are also organized at Sports
Authority of India Regional Centers, National Centers of Excellence (SAI)
Training Centers, Khelo India State Centers of Excellence, and Khelo India
Centers. Over 6,000 Namo Fit India Clubs across the country also organize this
cycling initiative every week.
