New Delhi, 11 October (H.S.):
New Zealand have announced their squad for the upcoming five-match One-Day International (ODI) series against India, with Finn Allen, Lockie Ferguson, Rachin Ravindra and Tim Seifert included in the line-up. Mitchell Santner will captain the side.
The ODI series is scheduled to begin on November 4 at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand. Before that, the two teams will contest a five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series from October 22 to November 1.
According to New Zealand Cricket, the team will aim to replicate its historic ODI series triumph over India in January. New Zealand defeated India 2–1 on Indian soil, securing their first-ever ODI series victory in India.
New Zealand have announced separate squads for the first three ODIs and the final two matches. Following the third ODI, some members of the squad will travel to Wellington to prepare for the upcoming Test series. Seven additional players have therefore been included for the fourth and fifth ODIs.
Finn Allen and Lockie Ferguson last played an ODI in 2023. Ferguson’s most recent appearance was in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup semi-final against India in Mumbai. Tim Seifert last featured in an ODI approximately 18 months ago, during New Zealand’s home series against Pakistan. Ravindra, who was ruled out of the T20I series due to a shoulder injury, is set to return for the first three ODIs.
