New Delhi, 11 October (H.S.): A Special Executive Magistrate in South-West Delhi has ordered the release of three leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)—Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka—as well as the party’s legal head, Ratna Singh, following their arrests ahead of a protest in the national capital on October 10 demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The magistrate ordered their release on the condition that they maintain peace and refrain from disturbing public order for one year.
CJP leaders Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were arrested aboard a flight on October 10. The Delhi Police arrested them under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Ratna Singh was also arrested on October 10, near her residence, while preparing to leave for the protest.
Several student and youth organisations, along with political parties, including the Cockroach Janata Party, had announced a protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10 over allegations of vote theft and to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The CJP leaders had travelled to Delhi to participate in the demonstration. However, citing apprehensions of a breach of peace, the police took them into preventive custody.
