Mumbai, 10 Oct (HS): The great grandson of Mahatma
Gandhi, Tushar Gandhi, was arrested while staging demonstrations at the August
Kranti Ground, Mumbai, in support of CJP’s agitation.
A police officer stated that Tushar Gandhi was
arrested from Bandra suburb and taken to DN Nagar Police Station. Another
social activist Feroze Mithiborwala of ‘Hum Bharat Ke Log’ was also arrested from
his residence and taken to MIDC Police Station. Tushar Gandhi on social media
had appealed to the people to assemble to participate in the agitation led by
him.
The Gramdevi Police Station has not received any
request seeking permission for staging the said agitation. The Bombay High Court
has not permitted any agitation to be staged at the August Kranti Ground, based
on which the police initiated action against Tushar Gandhi and others.
CJP (Cockroach Janata Party) had planned agitation
at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar against the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar
and SIR (Special Intensive Revision) alleging irregularities in it. CJP has
also raised changes in Form 6 for registration of voters.
Mumbai police have arrested Tushar Gandhi before
