Noida, 10 Oct (HS): Gautam Buddha Nagar police have been on
alert since Saturday morning due to the proposed protest by the Cockroach
Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in Delhi demanding the resignation of Chief
Election Commissioner of India Gyanesh Kumar. Surveillance has been increased
on the roads leading from Noida to Delhi. All routes from Noida to Delhi have
been barricaded. Police are checking each vehicle, and most vehicles are being
turned back at the border. The situation remains like an undeclared curfew.
Fifty-seven metro stations in Delhi have been closed today, severely disrupting
traffic. This protest has also severely impacted the industrial, commercial, IT
sector, and business units of the NCR.
A large number of people travel daily from Delhi to Noida and
vice versa. People working in Delhi's factories, shops, business
establishments, and various ministries live in Noida. Their movement has also
been virtually halted. Noida Police, in collaboration with Delhi Police, is
conducting intensive checking operations at various borders. Meanwhile, Gautam
Buddha Nagar Police has imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha
Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), for 10 days. Some people say that the police are getting
various resident welfare associations and apartment owner associations to
appeal to the residents through social media, asking them not to send their
children to Delhi and not to go there themselves. There is a lot of discussion
among people regarding this matter.
Strictness has been increased at all Delhi-Noida borders
since late last night. Cemented barricades have been erected at various
locations. The police have made additional preparations in case buses full of
protesters reach the border. If buses do arrive, the police will turn them back
from there. Today, only those traveling to Delhi for emergency services and
other work are being allowed to proceed. Drivers are required to provide a
valid reason for going to Delhi.
The activities of people associated with the Cockroach
Janata Party and members of organizations supporting the protest are being
monitored. From Friday till this morning, around two thousand people from
various organizations and political parties have been detained by the Noida
Police at various places and in their homes. Senior police officers are
continuously reviewing the security arrangements by holding meetings. Police
officers are ensuring that law and order is not affected during the protest and
any unpleasant situation can be dealt with in time. In view of the security
arrangements, the police are also keeping a close watch on the visitors to
guest houses, hotels and PGs.
Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Rajiv Narayan
Mishra said that in view of the demonstration, two companies of PAC have come
from outside. One company is from the district. In such a situation, three
companies of PAC are deployed in different parts of the district. He said that
in view of the festivals and examinations, the police have implemented Section
163 in the district from 10th to 20th October. During this period, processions,
protests, religious events and meetings in public places without permission
will be banned. He said that intensive checking campaign is being carried out
on all the borders adjoining Delhi. Policemen are keeping an eye on suspicious
persons and vehicles. Special attention is being given to those who are
suspected of spoiling the atmosphere.
Due to the protests in Delhi, precautions are being taken at
Dadri station as well. Reservation counters have been closed since early
morning. A notice stating a technical fault has been posted. The express train
arriving from Prayagraj this morning has been cancelled. However, no railway
official is willing to comment on this matter. Caution is being exercised at
the station. Station Master Hemant Kumar says that the gates have not been
closed yet, nor are passengers being stopped.
Due to the CGP protest, some metro stations in Delhi are
closed for people on Saturday. There is no impact of this in Noida. People will
be able to use the metro stations here as usual. Blue and Magenta lines have 13
stations in Noida, while Aqua line connecting Noida to Greater Noida has 21
stations. It has been decided not to close any station of Noida or
Noida-Greater Noida metro line. Officials said that New Ashok Nagar and Kalindi
Kunj metro stations adjacent to Noida border will be kept closed.
In response to the CJP protest, the Noida Police has formed
two teams to monitor social media. These teams are monitoring every post and
message posted on social media platforms. They are specifically monitoring
posts that the police consider objectionable or disruptive. The police's
objective is to monitor the spread of misleading information, inflammatory
messages, and rumors. If relevant posts are discovered, the facts will be
verified and action will be taken as per the law.
