Lucknow, 10 Oct (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath has presented important information on farmer welfare (known as Annadata)
and agricultural growth in the state.
Agriculture Growth Rate: The state's agriculture growth rate
has risen from 8% to 18%. The minimum support price (MSP) for paddy has been
enhanced by Rs. 71 per quintal, and 80 lakh farmers sold over 519 lakh metric
tons of paddy, earning a direct payment of more than Rs. 1,03,833 crore.
Uttar Pradesh accounts for 21% of total food grain output in
the country and is the leading producer of milk, sugarcane, and wheat.
Yogi Adityanath stated that the double-engine administration
is providing complete help to the state's Annadata (farmers) from seed to
market. In a recent address, he contrasted the current situation with the
pre-2017 period, when farmers faced severe debt and helplessness, emphasizing
that today's cultivators are empowered by improved seeds, expanded irrigation,
Minimum Support Price (MSP) assurances, and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi payouts
delivered securely via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). By relying extensively on
the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) structure, the administration guarantees that
payments are delivered transparently and without leakage straight into
recipients' bank accounts.
Addressing decades of delayed infrastructure projects, the
government has significantly extended UP's irrigation network to protect crops
from irregular monsoon patterns. The completion of long-awaited, huge
irrigation projects such as the Saryu Canal Project and the Bansagar Project
has effectively extended dependable irrigation capabilities to an extra 2.4
million hectares of agricultural land.
In a post on X, he mentioned, “Under the successful guidance
of the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, the state's double-engine
government is today providing the annadata farmer with facilities from seed to
market. The annadata farmer, who before 2017 was drowning in debt, distress,
and helplessness, and was forced to run around middlemen, is today free from
debt and availing the benefits of improved seeds, irrigation, and MSP and PM
Samman Nidhi through DBT. Today, irrigation projects that had been pending for
decades have been completed. The state is contributing 21 percent to the
country's total food grain production. The agricultural growth rate has
increased from 8 percent to 18 percent. UP holds the first position in the
country in the production of milk, sugarcane, wheat, and more.”
He further remarked, “In honor of the annadata farmer's hard
work and to ensure a fair price for his produce, between 2017 and March 2026,
more than 80 lakh farmers in the state have had over 519 lakh metric tons of
paddy procured, with direct payments exceeding Rs. 1,03,833 crore. With the
same commitment, this time too, the support price for paddy has been increased
by Rs. 71 per quintal. For the double-engine government, the annadata farmer is
the strength and foundation of the state's economy and prosperity. Therefore,
protecting the rights of the annadata farmer and ensuring his well-being is our
topmost priority.”
