New Delhi, 01 October (H.S.):

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the centenary celebrations of the Union Public Service Commission at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Thursday, marking 100 years of the institution responsible for recruiting candidates to India’s senior civil services.

PM Modi is scheduled to address the gathering at 11 a.m. as part of the concluding events of the UPSC’s year-long centenary programme. During the ceremony, he will release a commemorative coin and postage stamp marking the commission’s 100th anniversary.

The Prime Minister will also unveil a commemorative volume titled 100 Landmark Decisions That Shaped the Policies of the Union Public Service Commission and State Public Service Commissions in India.

The UPSC was established in 1926 and has played a central role in the recruitment of officers to India’s higher civil services. The centenary programme began on October 1, 2025, with events organised throughout the year to mark the commission’s institutional history and evolution.

The two-day programme, being held on September 30 and October 1, brings together senior officials, members and chairpersons of State Public Service Commissions, academics, UPSC representatives and other stakeholders.

The opening day, titled Centenary Celebrations – Manthan, features addresses by prominent speakers followed by panel discussions on subjects relating to public administration, recruitment and the future of civil service institutions.
