Guwahati, 01 October (HS): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on Thursday organised a collective shramdaan programme under the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign, with officers and employees participating actively in cleanliness and plantation activities across its jurisdiction.

NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said all five divisions — Katihar, Alipurduar, Rangiya, Lumding and Tinsukia — conducted cleanliness drives and awareness programmes at railway stations, offices and other railway premises.

Senior officers and employees participated in shramdaan, cleanliness pledges and awareness activities. Plantation drives were also organised at various locations to promote environmental responsibility and help maintain greener and cleaner surroundings around railway premises.

Passengers and members of the public were encouraged to participate in the campaign and contribute towards keeping railway premises clean. Through awareness programmes and public participation, the initiative highlighted that cleanliness is a collective responsibility requiring sustained community involvement.

At Guwahati Railway Station, officers and employees from NFR headquarters and the station took part in the collective shramdaan programme. The Principal Executive Director (Rolling Stock) of the Railway Board also joined NFR officers and railway staff in the cleanliness activities. The participants worked together to improve cleanliness at the station and also took part in plantation activities, reinforcing the message of environmental sustainability.

The NFR Construction Organisation also participated in Swachhata Hi Seva 2026. Large-scale shramdaan, awareness and plantation activities were organised at various offices and project sites under the organisation.

The initiatives across NFR reaffirmed the railway fraternity's commitment to cleanliness, environmental sustainability, public awareness and community participation. The campaign also encouraged railway officials, employees, passengers and the general public to contribute actively towards cleanliness and strengthen the spirit of service and collective responsibility.------------
