Nagoya, 01 October (H.S.): Thursday proved to be a highly successful day for India's medal campaign at the 2026 Asian Games. India won five medals on the day, including two silver and three bronze, taking its overall tally to 65 and keeping the country in eighth place in the medal standings. India's haul now comprises 10 gold, 23 silver and 32 bronze medals.

India's first medal of the day came from the women's squash team. The trio of Anahat Singh, Tanvi Khanna and Joshna Chinappa suffered a 1-2 defeat against Hong Kong in the semi-final, earning the team a bronze medal. The men's squash team also secured a bronze medal after losing 1-2 to Malaysia in the semi-final. The men's team comprised Abhay Singh, Velavan Senthilkumar and Veer Chotrani.

In sailing, Price Noble and Manu Francis won the silver medal in the men's skiff event. The Indian pair finished second behind China. In archery, Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumur won the bronze medal in the men's compound individual event.

In wrestling, Nitesh won the silver medal in the men's 97kg Greco-Roman category. It was India's second silver medal of the day, taking the country's overall silver-medal tally to 23.

China leads the medal standings with 285 medals, comprising 152 gold, 71 silver and 62 bronze. Japan is second with 215 medals, including 58 gold, 78 silver and 79 bronze, while the Republic of Korea is third with 112 medals, comprising 30 gold, 30 silver and 52 bronze.

Uzbekistan is fourth with 56 medals, including 16 gold, 21 silver and 19 bronze, while Iran is fifth with 41 medals, comprising 12 gold, 16 silver and 13 bronze.

India remains in eighth place with 65 medals, including 10 gold, 23 silver and 32 bronze.
