Indian archer Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru won the bronze medal in the men’s compound individual archery event at the Asian Games 2026 on Thursday. In the bronze-medal contest, Ganesh defeated Vietnam’s Cong Duc Dang 149-144 to secure a place on the podium.

Ganesh made an impressive start to the contest. In the opening set, he scored three consecutive 10s, while Dang registered 10, 9 and 10. Ganesh consequently took a 30-29 lead.

The Indian archer continued his strong performance in the second set, again scoring three 10s. Dang managed 10, 9 and 10, allowing Ganesh to extend his lead to 60-58.

In the third set, both archers scored 10 with all three of their attempts. Ganesh nevertheless retained his overall advantage, with the score standing at 90-88.

In the fourth set, Ganesh scored 10, 9 and 10, while Dang recorded 9, 10 and 9. Ganesh entered the final set with a 119-116 lead.

In the fifth and final set, Ganesh produced three consecutive 10s. Dang, meanwhile, managed 8, 10 and 10. Ganesh finished with a total of 149 points, while Dang scored 144.

Ganesh scored 10 points on 14 occasions during the contest and recorded only one 9. His remarkable accuracy earned India the bronze medal in the compound individual event.

With this, India’s campaign in compound archery at the Asian Games concluded with three gold medals and one bronze.
