New Delhi, 01 October (H.S.): Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday praised the courage of Indian-origin pilot Smit Machhar in connection with the Flydubai incident, saying the entire country takes pride in his extraordinary bravery.

Speaking to reporters, Rijiju referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on the incident and said the Prime Minister had expressed the sentiments of the Indian community as a whole.

Rijiju said that when a pilot of Indian origin risks his own life to demonstrate exceptional courage, his actions naturally earn admiration around the world. He added that, as Indians, people would understandably feel proud of such an act of bravery.

The Union Minister said that whenever an Indian performs an extraordinary act and demonstrates that Indians are willing to put their own lives at risk to save others, it becomes a matter of pride for the entire nation.

Referring to the Flydubai incident, Rijiju said the courage displayed by the pilot, and the risks he took to protect the lives of others, reflected the spirit of bravery and humanity associated with Indians.

He added that such acts demonstrate the importance of courage and selflessness in moments of crisis, while highlighting the pilot’s commitment to protecting fellow passengers despite the danger involved.
