Hooghly, 01 October (H.S.): A pile of garbage near the RMS Ground, close to Gopinath Super Market in Serampore, has raised concerns over sanitation ahead of Durga Puja. Photographs taken on Thursday show garbage accumulated near the ground, with foul odour reportedly affecting the surrounding area.
The RMS Ground hosts a Durga Puja celebration and is expected to witness a large gathering of devotees during the festive days. The area also remains busy due to the nearby market and shops, making proper sanitation particularly important ahead of the festival.
Hooghly Press Club is also located in the vicinity, bringing further attention to the sanitation issue.
The key question now is whether the accumulated garbage will be cleared and the area properly cleaned before Durga Puja.
Till the time of filing this report, no response was available from any Serampore municipal authority regarding the matter.
