‘BJP Barta’ Unveiled, Joining Ceremony Held at Vajpayee Bhavan

Guwahati, 01 October (HS): Assam BJP president and Darrang-Udalguri Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia on Thursday said the Congress was engaged in “destroying society”, while the BJP was working towards strengthening society and nation-building.

Saikia was addressing a joining ceremony at the BJP state headquarters, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhavan, where several Congress leaders and prominent individuals formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Welcoming the new entrants, including Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress general secretaries Rita Sinha and Nabina Sultana Mazumdar, Saikia said the BJP was a party of workers committed to serving the people and contributing to nation-building. He said the decision of individuals from different sections of society to join the BJP reflected their confidence in the party’s principles, ideology and commitment to governance.

Referring to the joining of several women leaders, Saikia claimed that the new entrants had expressed dissatisfaction with the functioning of the Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress and said Congress had no place for workers who maintained their self-respect.

He urged the new members to work for the people with dedication and said their experience, capabilities and public outreach would strengthen the BJP’s organisational network and help in taking government welfare schemes and development initiatives to a wider section of society.

Those who joined the BJP included Rita Sinha, Nabina Sultana Mazumdar, Bikram Jyoti Das, Amar Jyoti Bania, Rathin Talukdar, Prasenjit Sinha, Jugamaya Sinha, Shubha Sinha, Karabi Deka, Sharifa Begum and Radha Chhetri.

National award-winning innovator Kanak Gogoi, along with Binay Roy, Pratham Roy, Montu Chaurasia, Amit Sahani and Sabyasachi Ghosh, also formally joined the BJP.

The programme was conducted by BJP state vice-president Ashok Bhattarai. Vice-president Ratna Singh, Guwahati Metropolitan District president Tapan Das and several senior party leaders attended the event.

Meanwhile, Saikia also unveiled the state BJP’s regular mouthpiece, ‘BJP Barta’, on Thursday. Maintaining its established practice, the publication was released on the first day of the month.

Saikia described the uninterrupted publication of ‘BJP Barta’ on the first day of every month for the past 10 years as a significant achievement for a political organisation.------------
