09 Jan (HS): A heartbreaking road accident occurred during midnight in the
Sadar Kotwali area of Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh. A young man was
dragged for a considerable distance after being trapped behind a speeding
dumper near the Indian Oil Outpost, resulting in his tragic death on the spot.
Upon receiving news of the incident, panic gripped the area.
Kotwali
police arrived at the scene, took the body into custody and sent it to the
mortuary for a post-mortem. According to eyewitnesses, the dumper was coming
from Kanpur. For some reason, the young man became trapped in the rear of the
vehicle, and the driver was unaware of it. Passersby saw the young man hanging
and being dragged behind the dumper and immediately informed the police.
After
the accident, the driver parked the dumper near the accident site and fled the
scene. Police have taken the vehicle into custody and launched a search for the
driver. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being examined to identify the
accused driver. The deceased has not yet been identified. He is estimated to be
between 35 and 40 years old. Police are working to identify him. Kotwali police
station in-charge Rajkumar Singh stated that the case is being investigated
seriously. Necessary legal action will be taken against the driver.
