Pune, 09 January (HS): Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday criticised the alleged stone-pelting incident involving Shiv Sena candidates campaigning for the January 15 Pune civic elections, saying such acts of intimidation would not deter the party or its workers.
According to Shiv Sena leader Pramod Nana Bhangire, stones were allegedly hurled at him and fellow candidate Sarika Pawar from ward number 41 in the Kale Padal area of Hadapsar on Wednesday night. Pawar reportedly suffered a minor injury, while the windscreen of their vehicle was damaged in the incident.
Referring to the incident while addressing a public rally in Katraj, Shinde cautioned opposition parties against resorting to violence and said Shiv Sainiks were not afraid of such tactics. He asserted that the Shiv Sena, founded on the ideals of Balasaheb Thackeray, always stands by its workers and does not abandon them in difficult situations.
