Mumbai, 09 January (HS): Twenty office-bearers of the Shiv Sena led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, including party leader Milind Suryanath, resigned from all party posts in Navi Mumbai on Friday. The resignations, coming during the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation election period, are seen as a major setback for Shinde and his party.
Milind Suryanath, considered a close supporter of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, resigned along with his supporters from all posts in the Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Speaking after submitting his resignation, Suryanath said he had stood by Shinde at every step but was deeply hurt after the party denied a ticket to his wife for the Navi Mumbai municipal polls.
Following his decision, several of his supporters also quit the party. Suryanath further claimed that many workers of the Shinde-led Shiv Sena in Navi Mumbai were unhappy and indicated that more resignations could take place over the next two days.
