Kheri, 09 Jan (HS): The India-Nepal Border District Coordination Committee (BDCC)
met in Nepal's Kailali district to guarantee peace, security, and
administrative cooperation along the international border in light of the
neighbouring country's forthcoming elections, authorities said on Friday.
According to a press release from the Lakhimpur Kheri district administration,
District Magistrate Durga Shakti Nagpal, along with Additional District
Magistrate Narendra Bahadur Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police Pawan
Gautam, the sub-divisional magistrates of Pallia and Nighasan tehsils, and
senior Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) officials, represented India at the meeting on
Thursday. The Kheri DM informed the chief district officers (CDOs) of Kailali
and Kanchanpur districts that the Kheri district administration will fully
cooperate during the Nepalese election.
She
highlighted India and Nepal's long-standing historical, cultural, and family
links, and stated that the local administration, SSB, and police will provide
all necessary help to ensure that the polls ran well. ADM Narendra Bahadur
Singh promised increased border security, real-time information sharing, and
uninterrupted emergency services during the election period. According to ASP
Pawan Gautam, constant patrolling is already in place, and any inputs received
from Nepal would be addressed promptly. The statement stated that the
conference also covered drug smuggling, cross-border crime prevention, and
improving collaboration among enforcement agencies.
