
Kolkata, 09 January (H.S.): Security agencies were put on high alert after West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose received a threatening email from an unknown person on Thursday. The email threatened to bomb the Governor. Following the threat, the police acted swiftly and arrested the accused.
A senior official at Raj Bhavan (Governor's residence) said on Friday that the person who sent the threat was apprehended late Thursday night from the Salt Lake area of Kolkata. The accused had also included his mobile number in the email, which helped the police track him down and make the arrest. The accused is currently being interrogated.
Governor CV Ananda Bose already has Z-plus security. Following the threat, his security has been further tightened, and an additional 60 to 70 central security personnel have been deployed.
Considering the seriousness of the threat, security arrangements at Raj Bhavan have been further strengthened. According to the Governor's Officer on Special Duty (OSD), a high-level meeting was also held at midnight to review security, and decisions were taken to further tighten security protocols.
