
Greater Noida , 08 January (H.S.): At least 30 residents, including children, in Greater Noida's Delta 1 sector have reported severe gastrointestinal illnesses—such as vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain, fever, and headaches—after consuming allegedly contaminated tap water over the past three days (Tuesday through Thursday), residents and health officials confirmed.
Delta 1 Resident Welfare Association (RWA) president Pankaj Nagar highlighted repeated complaints to the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), noting a prior incident affecting 15 A Block residents.
Vijay Singh from C-200 described the water as persistently yellow, suspecting sewage infiltration: My children suffered diarrhoea; we rushed them to hospital. Rukmani Singh Bhati echoed reports of foul-smelling supply, linking it to child illnesses.
A health camp at Dankaur Primary Health Centre on Wednesday examined around 30 patients, treating 5-6 for stomach issues; another camp is planned, per Medical Superintendent Narayan Kishore. Gautam Buddh Nagar Chief Medical Officer Narendra Kumar noted 23 checked and seven medicated for vomiting/diarrhoea .
GNIDA swiftly denied widespread sewage mixing, attributing issues to isolated pipeline leaks repaired immediately—one at a specific house and another site. Water samples were collected for testing, with CEO N G Ravi Kumar ordering random checks citywide.
