Chennai, 08 January (H.S.) : Member of Parliament KARTI CHIDAMBARAM has stated that it is natural for political parties to desire participation in governance, addressing the ongoing discussions regarding power-sharing within the ruling alliance in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to the media, the senior Congress leader noted that every political entity exists to implement its ideology and policies, which is most effectively achieved through a role in the government. His remarks come at a time when several alliance partners of the DMK, including the VCK and the Congress, have faced internal and external debates concerning the possibility of a coalition cabinet.
CHIDAMBARAM emphasized that such aspirations are a legitimate part of democratic politics and should not be viewed as a sign of instability within the existing secular alliance.
The administrative authority of the party highlighted that the alliance remains strong and focused on the welfare of the people despite varying opinions on administrative roles. KARTI CHIDAMBARAM further mentioned that while the DMK currently leads the government with a full majority, the contribution of all partners in securing electoral victories is significant.
He stated that the ultimate decision regarding cabinet composition rests with the leadership of the respective parties and the Chief Minister. However, he reiterated that the desire to serve the public through ministerial positions is a fundamental goal for any active political organization.
The statement has sparked further conversation among political circles regarding the future structure of the alliance as the state approaches upcoming local and general elections.
